It’s winter; we are going through a global pandemic, and Christmas is right around the corner – this means we will be spending a whole load more time indoors with our families. That is why it is the perfect time to get creative and start to make different things that you can give people as gifts, decorate your home with, wear, and so on.

This is also a fantastic way to teach your children something new while bonding with them and helping them to discover what they’re good at. Here are some fun ideas of things you can make at home with the kids!

A photo collage

These days, people take a million photos to have them get lost within their phone galleries, never to be seen again. It’s a shame because the likelihood is that you have so many wonderful pictures that you’ve forgotten about. Well, we say no more! Sit down with your kids and go through your pictures on a big screen (connect your phone to the computer/TV) so that you can all see clearly.

Then select your favorites, ensuring you have an excellent variety picked. It’s time to make a photo collage now – you can do this online (click the link) or make your own. Either way, this is an enjoyable activity to get the kids involved with. It lets them utilize their creativity, and they’ll be pleased that you’re valuing their opinion.

Your own safety face masks

Well, as it looks like we might need them for a while, why not make your personalized face masks? They’re easy than you might think to make, and you only need a few materials. Click here to find out how.

Make sure you handle the needles if your kids are very young, though! This task shows them that they can create things that are practical and relatively simple – not everything needs to be bought from the store.

Art pieces

Let your budding Picassos shine! There are so many different things you can get painting, coloring, and drawing. Get some art supplies for your little one to like drawing papers, colors, and pencils like Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils, etc. and let him work on his creativity. You can get pillowcases for them to put their designs on with fabric pens, ‘color in the numbers’ portraits, mini-easels so they can draw what is in front of them – the list is endless.

Getting creative is an excellent way of encouraging your child to express themselves, and you can do it right by their side, comparing, helping, and advising one another on your pieces of art. You might find it relaxing and therapeutic yourself!

Baked goods

Kids love to bake. Let them decide what recipe they want to make and be there with them every step of the way, ensuring they are always safe. Let them get stuck in with the mixing, weighing, and licking of bowls!

They’ll be so proud of the end product, knowing that you created it together. Check out different recipes – you don’t have to stick to just sweet dishes. There are loads of different savory plates you can bake too. Cooking is a life skill that is great for them to pick up early on.
